- Campaign contributions influence bills?: The New York Times reports that Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), who recently introduced a bill to give immunity to telecom companies that worked with the Bush Administration to illegally wiretap phones, received campaign contributions totaling $42,850 from AT&T and Verizon, both of which are facing lawsuits from subscribers. The Wired Threat Level blog initially reported about these contributions on October 18th.
