Editing Restrictions

In order to edit LessigWiki, it is currently necessary to create a user account with a verified email address. The arms race between myself and the spammers has recently tilted in favor of the spammers, who have worked out ways of getting their messages posted that are very difficult to block using techniques currently implemented in the existing spam-blocking software.

I do plan to re-arm with new anti-spam techniques, but at the moment it doesn't seem like the most important battle to be fighting. Restricting access in this way means that each spam account will also have to come with a valid email address, which (in theory) slows down the onslaught a bit and may also allow for some pushback via email hosts.
